Gildredge House is celebrating its first ever set of GCSE results. Students achieved 66% Grade 5 (74% Grade 4) and above in English and 54% Grade 5 (75% Grade 4) and above in Mathematics. Students performed particularly well in the Sciences with results in Biology, Chemistry and Physics standing at an impressive 97%, 95% and 97% Grade 5 and above respectively. Other top achievements were posted in Drama (96%), Latin (68%) and History (64%).
Head Teacher, Mr Stuart Reeves, commented “We are all delighted with these results and they represent the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.”
Students who achieved particularly well were: Anastasija Timofeyeva with 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, a Grade 7 and an A* in Russian; Joshua Moreton with 5 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7; Henry Bishop with 6 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, a Grade 7 and a 6 and Imogen Sanderson with 5 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s.
Mr Reeves continued, “Whilst comparisons with last year need to be treated with caution due to the sweeping reforms made to GCSEs, all of our headline results are above the National Averages for last year and I expect comparisons with this year’s Nationals to be favourable.”
Gildredge House is a comprehensive, all-through free school which has been in operation for 5 years. In September it will have students in all year groups except Year 6 and its Sixth Form is growing.
“Gildredge House moves from strength to strength and published results in Reception, Year 1, Year 11 and Year 13 are all above the National Averages which demonstrates what a good job the school is doing at improving the future chances of many young people in Eastbourne” concluded Mr Reeves.
