As a school, we are extremely proud of our students’ hard work and achievements. I am delighted that, despite the difficult circumstances, the majority of our students have progressed onto the next stage of their educational journey. Despite the obvious challenges that this year group have faced, we are excited to see so many of our students offered places at high achieving universities. The majority of our students have achieved grades that enables them to attend their first choice university, apprenticeship programme or enter into employment. As a small, student-focused Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on developing a range of skills and attributes, allowing students to leave us with much more than just academic results.
This year, however, there are a number of students who have been inexplicably downgraded in particular subjects. This downgrading has significantly disadvantaged certain departments. As a school, we are supporting students and have appealed for their grades to be reviewed in line with our Centre Assessment Grades. Whilst this is understandably a difficult time for some, we are immensely proud of the resilience, determination and commitment these students are showing during this unpredictable and uncertain time.
When safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming students back to celebrate not only their results but also the enormous progress all students have made since joining Gildredge House. Many of the year group joined Gildredge House as its first ever cohort in 2013, with others joining in 2018 from a wide range of local Secondary schools. All students have contributed across all areas of school life and have been instrumental in supporting the development of the school and growing the Sixth Form into what it is today. This year group have been exemplary members of our school community and, for this, I thank them and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
