The Bulletin is Moving to Facebook!

Friday 28 April 2017

It has now been two weeks since I started at Gildredge House and I am still very happy to be here! It has been another very busy week and I finally feel that I am getting to know my way around.

At the Sixth Form Parent Voice meeting on Tuesday it was good to meet a number of parents who were keen to give feedback on how things are going for their children. We discussed the need for all Sixth Form prefects to receive training in their vital roles around the school, how students would appreciate more quiet study areas and whether or not the school would reconsider its position on compulsory PE in Year 12. I have taken these ideas away and will update everyone in due course.

In other events it was great to see the girls’ cricket team beat the Year 9 boys on Wednesday. The girls had clearly put in the effort on the training ground and it really paid off; well done girls!

Wednesday night was Year 10 Parents’ Evening and it was great to be able to meet so many parents and celebrate the good things their children are doing at Gildredge House. Many parents told me how impressed they were with my staff and how the advice they received was informative, timely and focussed on how to improve. A huge thank you to staff for a long but productive evening.

And finally, the Bulletin is moving over to Facebook! You will get all the latest updates, sporting results, latest news items and celebrations of student events through our Facebook page. To access this please click here and like our page! In addition to this, I will also be sending out a larger newsletter once every half term to keep everyone up to speed with developments at the school.
