Exciting A Level Results from Gildredge House Sixth Form Student Pioneers

Thursday 17 August 2017

Gildredge House is delighted to announce a pleasing first set of A Level results as students come to the end of their second year as pioneers of the Gildredge House Sixth Form.

95% of students passed with grades A*-E with over 21% of students attaining the coveted A* and A grades. Students performed particularly well in Art & Design, Computer Science, French and Music achieving 100% A*-B grades. Gildredge House is also celebrating some outstanding results from individual students. Joseph Hills and Kiera Rae accomplished the remarkable achievement of A*-A grades in all their subjects. Jack de Simone, Imogen Freeborn, Megane Gaffney and Elizabeth Winch made exceptional progress from their AS Level results, achieving grades ranging from A*AB to ABB in their A Levels.

The school was delighted to celebrate so many of its students moving on to university, and we are particularly proud of Brendon Hughes who gained a place at the University of Central Lancashire to study Modern Languages. Other destinations for our students included Bristol, King’s College London and University College London. A parent who accompanied their children to collect their results this morning commented, “Amazing results for our daughter’s A Levels and son’s AS Levels! Looking forward to the next step at university!”

Head Teacher, Mr Stuart Reeves, commented, “We are very pleased with our first set of A Level results, students have done exceptionally well and I was delighted to see so many happy faces! Virtually every single student who applied to go to university has attained a place with the vast majority getting the grades required for their first choice; I wish them every success in the next stage of their educational journey.”

Gildredge House opened its doors to Year 12 students for the first time in September 2015, at the same time as A Level qualifications were being reformed nationally. Thirteen A Level courses were restructured with a move away from coursework and modular exams, making them more challenging for students.

Mr Reeves continued, “I am proud of the way that the students have responded to the changes in A Level courses and with enormous commitment and hard work they have achieved the grades they thoroughly deserve. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Gildredge House for their hard work and dedication in ensuring that our students are well prepared for university and the world of work.”
