Admissions Consultation

The Schools Admissions Code 2014 sets out a requirement for all admissions authorities to undertake statutory consultation where they propose a variation to the Published Admission Number (PAN) of a school. The Governors of Gildredge House therefore wish to consult with stakeholders and the wider community on proposed changes to their admissions arrangements.

Proposed changes to the Admissions Policy would take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2020.

Summary of the proposed changes to the Admissions Policy for Gildredge House 2020-21

  • Reducing PAN for Year 7 admissions.
  • Clarification of Sixth Form admission criteria.

Why does Gildredge House wish to make these changes?

Gildredge House is classed as an all-through school. This means that children attending Year 6 in the Primary phase have an automatic entitlement to transfer to Year 7 of the Secondary phase. The first all-through Primary to Secondary transfer cohort will take place in 2020-21. The Admissions Authority therefore wishes to accurately reflect that change in PAN and reduce the published PAN from 120 to 84 for Year 7 admissions from 2020-21 and thereafter.

The proposal to reduce the school’s PAN will mean that the number of external places available for children in Year 7 will be reduced to 84 so as not to exceed the maximum student capacity of 144 students in Year 7.

The Admissions Authority also wishes to clarify the admission process for Sixth Form.

These are the only proposed changes – all other criteria will remain the same.
